Company Co-Founder To Have Greatly Expanded Range Of Responsibilities
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sep. 11, 2001 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) announced today the promotion of Sanjay Mehrotra, 43, to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. In his new position, Mehrotra will continue to report to company president and CEO Eli Harari and will have responsibility for all SanDisk manufacturing operations, engineering, OEM marketing, OEM sales, industrial products and quality assurance. The promotion is effective immediately.

Sanjay is a person of the highest integrity, and is one of the most effective and highly respected technical managers in our industry today. He has demonstrated excellent business judgment and technical leadership in every position of responsibility he has held at SanDisk. Over the past 18 months, he has led the companys highly successful transformation to NAND flash technology and products and has been our primary liaison with Toshiba, our partner in the FlashVision L.L.C. joint venture. I look forward to working closely with Sanjay in the coming years."
Mehrotras most recent position at SanDisk was senior vice president of engineering, which included responsibilities for directing SanDisks NAND flash program, developing all SanDisk flash products and managing the companys intellectual property licensing activities. He is also executive vice president of FlashVision, a new semiconductor company started by Toshiba and SanDisk to manufacture advanced NAND flash components. Mehrotra is a co-founder of SanDisk and has been with the company since its inception in 1988. He is also a board member of Divio, a privately held semiconductor start-up company.
Previously, Mehrotra has also served as SanDisks vice president of product development and director of memory design and product engineering. He has more than 21 years of experience in the non-volatile semiconductor memory industry including engineering and engineering management positions at Intel Corporation, Seeq Technology, Integrated Device Technology and Atmel Corporation.
Mehrotra earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds several patents and published articles in the area of non-volatile memory design and flash memory systems.
